1937-42 Willys Right Side Passenger Door Latch and Lock

Thanks to Donny Owen of the West Coast Willys Club for providing the two pictures of the 1937-42 right side passenger door latch mechanism. A person can clearly see where the door handle engages the latch as well as the right-side door lock shaft does the same.

Removing Door Lock on 1937-42 Willys Passenger Door

1937-42 Willys Coupes, sedans and pickups only had the lock on the pass side because you exited at the curb side. Therefore, you lock the driver’s side by moving the handle up and slid over, got out and locked the door.
1937-42 Willys vehicles never got a driver’s side lock.
Look for a hole in the edge of the door under the weatherstrip. It normally uses an allen head set screw, although in some cases Willys used slotted screws. Loosen the screw and the lock will slide right out.

1937-42 Willys Right Side Passenger Door Lock with shaft, Key

My local locksmith made quick work on fixing my original 1938 Willys door lock, easily making two keys and I was out of there in 10 minutes. so if you still have yours and everything else about your right passenger door handle works, probably all you need is a new key made by a professional locksmith versus yanking your door latch and lock assembly out of the car.
